Book Review: Pelukis Jalanan & Arkitek Jalanan | Teme Abdullah
assalamualaikum and hi.
went to MPH on 16th just to window shopping because I dont have enough money to buy books. not that I dont have the money just that buying a book right now is not a priority for me because I need to replace my lost IC. it cost RM110 which means I need to limit my other wants too *sigh
nevertheless I can resist to buy one when I'm inside MPH. moreover I got to borrow MPH member card that belongs to my roommate which means I'll have 10% off when I buy books. saw one of my long waiting list of wanted book, I grab one and smile because finally I've found it.
Pelukis Jalanan - Teme Abdullah
published in 2016, but just today in this year I've got it. I'v read many great and awesome reviews on this books that it gives you the urge to buy and wanted to feel the same feelings like how the others felt.
I cried.
serious talk, I really cried upon reading the first chapter of this book. maybe because I knew how the writer felt during his last moment w/ his family at the airport before heading to overseas furthering studies. it gives me the feelings of whenever ma and abah send me to the airport everytime new sem starts. I tried really hard not to cry because it's just a normal story but still, I cried and being emo.
if you're working and came across reading this book, it will give you the feelings when you're still a students. the life of a uni students. the struggles and hardship. and if you're a student right now, well this book is the right book for those of you that's been in a hard situation. struggling between loads of assignments, group work rider, money, foods, friends, etc. this is just the right book for us.
I dont know how I ended up reading this book for only 2 hours and all those 2 hours, I cried, emotional, happy, empathy, etc.
cant get enough of chapter one from Teme Abdullah, I decided to buy his second book which is the sequel of Pelukis Jalanan. bought it today at MPH Alamanda.
Arkitek Jalanan - Teme Abdullah
more exciting. more stories. more motivational and inspirational stories and talks. I'm falling all over with his writing. the way he tells stories about his journey from the beginning until the end of his degree. I'm in aww with his relationship with Ahmad.
if in Pelukis Jalanan I cried a lot, not in his second book where I find myself to be confident and be grateful with my own life. not that I dont need to do better just that sometimes we need to be confident with our self. Teme and Ahmad's relationship is just so pure and lovely. two people keeps encouraging each other in bad and good times. through thick and thin together. what more you want from a friend? trust? they even shared their account pin number! my brothers dont even know my account pin number. but look at them!
what I love about Teme is, he's not the ordinary pendakwah that I used to know. indeed he's right about pendakwah muda in this generation. too many of them but some of them didnt even have the right qualification or any academic qualification to have the rights to talk or influence many peoples.
'sebab tu aku tak suka orang yang tak ada qualification bercakap soal ilmu, siap bagi ceramah merata-rata. ia membodohkan. jadi barah dalam masyarakat. barah kepada ummah' - Teme Abdullah
there's more actually in his words from above. do read his books. it really tells you the reality of today. it hits you deep and makes you think twice.
thanks Teme Abdullah. if you ever came across this post of mine, I just wanna say that you inspire me a lot. at the time where I thought I better quit because of all these problems that keeps coming, I read your book. thank you for writing a book that's really tell others about the reality of students life. eventho I'm not an overseas students and didnt walk the same path like you, still thank you for being there writing for someone who's already thinking about quitting. thanks, Teme.
for you guys that havent read it yet, do read it! worth to read. very recommended!
